The Witness of the Shamrock

(March 2006)

To some it's just a small green plant

Displayed one month each year

But simple as this plant may be

It has a message all should hear

The Irish people long have said

Great luck this plant will bring.

As Christians it shouldn't signify luck

But rather the King of Kings

Upon close inspection you will find

A stalk with three small leaves

They stand for God the Father , Son, and Spirit

Which we call the Holy Trinity

A Father whose love knows no bounds

Who created everything on earth

A Son who came, died and rose again

To give all man new birth

The Holy Spirit was given at Pentecost

And brings us comfort still

It gently guides us on life's path

As we follow God's will

The shamrock may be a small green plant

With out many know uses for it

But it will always stand to remind us all

Of God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
